What Type of Adventurer Am I?

Here at Macs Adventure, we provide a whole host of trips in a range of destinations that take you on amazing journeys and create incredible memories.

With so many routes, we get that it can be tricky to choose! So, we’ve created this short and snappy quiz to help you discover what type of adventurer you are and which trip type is best for you.

Take the quiz to find the perfect fit!

Why do you walk or cycle?

  1. For the challenge and adventure – To test my endurance and take on some of the world’s most legendary routes.
  2. A journey inward and outward – A chance for deep self-reflection, personal growth, and healing, while escaping the noise of technology and daily life.
  3.  Immersing in authenticity – I love a leisurely route that lets me soak up the true essence of a place, explore its culture, and connect with locals.
  4. To experience the highlights – From magical waterfalls to majestic palaces and stunning viewpoints. It’s less about the distance and more about the best bits.
  5. A mix of movement and discovery - To see as much of a region as possible. Both iconic landmarks and the places only the locals know.

What type of walks or cycle routes attract you the most?

  1. Challenging long-distance trails – Rugged terrain with plenty of ascents and descents, perfect for pushing my limits and embracing the adventure.
  2. A journey through history and nature – A meaningful walk where I can be immersed in culture, enjoy solitude, and feel at one with nature—while still savouring the occasional chat with fellow travellers. The sense of community is important to me.
  3. Relaxed trails with variety – A mix of countryside and charming towns, where I can pause for a leisurely lunch, visit a museum and dive into local culture along the way.
  4. Quality over quantity – I’m drawn to routes with spectacular scenery and unforgettable views rather than long distances and challenging terrain. A vineyard detour? Even better.
  5. Flexibility is key – Instead of strict end-to-end routes, I prefer a mix of loop trails and circular walks. Perhaps I’ll hike or cycle in the morning and explore sights in the afternoon.

What type of accommodation do you like to stay in?

  1. Comfortable and simple stays – Inns, mountain huts, or lodges work for me, as long as they’re clean and cosy. I’m ok with dorm-style rooms too, it’s all part of the adventure!
  2. A social and welcoming atmosphere – I enjoy staying where fellow walkers gather, like friendly B&Bs that offer a warm and inviting stay.
  3. A place to unwind – Like a home away from home. Somewhere charming and comfortable to relax after a day of walking or cycling. A pool is a bonus, but not a must.
  4. A touch of indulgence – I love stylish stays like boutique hotels, châteaux, or historic houses with stunning views, spa facilities, and incredible food.
  5. Practical and well-located – I prefer 3–4* B&Bs, guesthouses, or local hotels with parking, easy access, and a location that keeps me close to my route.

What type of food do you like to eat?

  1. A hearty meal on the go – A packed lunch filled with local produce or classic comfort food like fish and chips, perfect for refuelling mid-adventure.
  2. Authentic flavours with a local touch – Traditional dishes paired with a nice glass of wine. I enjoy set menus—they’re a great way to try something new.
  3. Relaxed and social dining – Grazing on tapas or sharing plates over a carafe of wine, soaking up the atmosphere at a leisurely pace.
  4. Fine dining indulgence – I appreciate the artistry of Michelin-starred restaurants and love treating myself to an exceptional culinary experience.
  5. A mix of everything – From wholesome pub grub and charming cafés for tea and cake to must-visit local restaurants, I enjoy a variety of dining experiences.
