Relaxed Camino Portugues Coastal Way

  • Walk to Santiago via the wild Atlantic coastline of Portugal and Galicia
  • Enjoy a quieter Camino experience away from the crowds
  • Explore the medieval towns of Baiona, Pontevedra and Padron
  • Dine on the finest seafood and sip on ruby port
  • The vibrant UNESCO heritage city of Porto
Our easier itinerary on the quieter Camino Portugues Coastal Way (Caminho da Costa) follows the wild Atlantic coastline from Porto to Santiago de Compostela. Designed as a relaxed alternative to the central route, it is ideal for walkers seeking fewer crowds and gentler daily distances. Daily walks range from approximately 7–23 km (4–14 miles) on mostly flat terrain, with an average of around 14 km (9 miles). Designed as an easy option, this itinerary offers shorter stages and a slower, more relaxed pace than our standard Coastal Route. Starting in the vibrant UNESCO-listed city of Porto, the route passes seaside towns, fishing villages, river estuaries and sandy beaches. Highlights include Viana do Castelo, medieval towns such as Baiona and Pontevedra, Romanesque bridges, Galician cuisine, and a shared arrival in Santiago de Compostela. If you would prefer to walk only one of the two stages in this easier format, our sales team will be happy to assist.
