Choose your adventure today! From your hotel, you have the option of hiking Catbells, one of the most popular fells in the region, or enjoying a scenic walk around the shores of Derwentwater.
For a more challenging option today, hiking Catbells is one of the most rewarding climbs in the Lake District with panoramic vistas over Derwentwater, the Buttermere Fells, and the dramatic peaks of Skiddaw and Blencathra. The route is a favorite of locals, with rolling green hills, peaceful woodlands, and the quintessential charm of the Lake District’s rugged landscapes. After the hike, take time to explore the charming and outdoorsy town of Keswick, with plenty of markets, cozy pubs and unique shops to explore.
Alternatively, for a more relaxed day, opt for the Derwentwater Walk, a peaceful and scenic circuit of the lake. The trail combines gentle woodland paths, open lakeside views, and charming bays, all framed by the stunning Lake District peaks. Along the way, walkers can enjoy tranquil picnic spots and opportunities to spot wildlife. The Derwentwater Walk passes through Keswick, an ideal stop for lunch, browsing for local gifts, or simply soak up the town’s charm. In the afternoon, enjoy a chance to unwind at the hotel’s spa before dinner. Dinner is included tonight.

The route is graded easy. The route is a mixture of paths, forest tracks and country roads. On ascent of Catbells there is one rocky section where you may need to steady yourself with your hands as you go. It is not technical nor challenging. Some of the paths can become muddy and boggy after rain, but the majority are well maintained. There are short bursts of gentle ascent along the route and the rewards are high!
For this walking trip it is not necessary to be super fit. The walks are relatively short and are suited to those who like to walk, but they are certainly not challenging. Whilst there are some up and downs you have all day to do the walks, so you can just take your time and take a breather too now and again if you wish. It would be beneficial to practice a bit before taking the trip, but it's doable for anyone who is an enthusiastic walker. Be sure check the daily distances and elevation changes outlined in your itinerary.
You will stay in hand-selected high-end hotels and historic homes. They are selected for their 4 or 5 star rating, lakeside and rural locations as well as their sophisticated comfort levels and traditional appeal.
